The bright dots effect of the optic fiber is often used in auto tuning, putting it on the interior ceiling of the car it creates the stargazin effects, or the NEON optic fiber for shapeing or indirect hidden lights. In models the fiber optic is  used as imitation of the soffit light, street light etc.. visible in the photo gallery. The optical fiber is very easy to manipulate, it doesn't need space in the area of application, and the fact that it can be bent, makes it usable for this kind of applications.
